Nikwax Down Proof™ has been specifically designed and optimized for down filled gear.
Adds Durable Water Repellency (DWR), which protects against rain and condensation
Quick to apply in a washing machine and ensures that the treatment goes right through the item
DWR of Nikwax Down Proof™ develops on air drying. However, tumble drying is recommended to ensure that the down is dried thoroughly and as quickly as possible.
Why you should use it
Down filled items are most likely to get sweaty and wet inside when used in damp or wet conditions. Therefore, it is important to stop down filled gear from getting wet by applying Durable Water Repellency (DWR).
Through use it will eventually wear off and need to be renewed with Nikwax Down Proof™.
When you should use it
Clean it with Nikwax Down Wash™,
Add DWR, using Nikwax Down Proof™
This will add DWR to the outer fabric of the gear and the down fill
When wet, down loses all its insulating properties.
How to use it
For best results always clean item(s) first with Nikwax Tech Wash® in a separate wash cycle.
Top Loading Machine Wash
- Place item(s) in washing machine (max. 3 items).
- After the machine has filled with water use:
- 100ml (1 item), low water level
- 150ml (2 items), medium water level
- 200ml (3 items), high water level
- Run heavy soil machine cycle.
- Wash according to care label.
Front Loading Machine Wash
- Remove all detergent build-up from the detergent dispenser.
- Place clean item(s) in washing machine (max. 3 items).
- Use: 100ml (1-2 items) and 150ml (3 items).
- Wash according to care label.
Air dry or tumble dry on a low setting if care label allows. To maintain waterproofing always wash with Nikwax Tech Wash®. Do not use detergents.
